"A History of China Modern Art: 1979 - 1989" is the first domestic collaborative work between Mr. Yi Dan and myself that reflects the emergence and development of modern art in China since the initiation of the reform and opening-up period. This art historical tome, comprised of over 700 images and abundant primary sources, meticulously delves into the background and reasons behind the rise and evolution of modern art in China. The book contextualizes artists and their works within the tapestry of history, providing a selective description and analysis of artists' artistic thoughts and expressions. While discussing the development of art, the book also succinctly summarizes the debates within the art criticism community, offering readers an effective reference point to comprehend this segment of art history.
