“A Gift to Marco Polo" exhibition is set to commence on June 4, 2009, in Venice. As one of the curators, I arrived on the island of San Servolo on May 24. Over the subsequent two and a half weeks, I diligently documented, in the form of a travelogue, the philosophical reflections and documentary records of organizing this contemporary Chinese art exhibition during the Venice Biennale. The book “From San Servolo to Amalfi” delineates my curatorial endeavors and personal journey during the exhibition. At times, I strolled contemplatively, at times, sought repose, reflecting continuously on the legacy that the Venice Biennale has bequeathed to China in this era of globalization.
