The exhibition, title “A Gift to Marco Polo”, was curated by myself and Achille Bonita Oliva as a special invitation exhibition for the 53rd Venice Biennale, held within the campus of the Venice International University. This showcase featured nine Chinese artists, including Zhang Peili, Yue Minjun, Wang Guangyi, He Duoling, and Zhou Chunya, among others. The exhibited works represented significant styles within contemporary Chinese art. On one hand, it aimed to present avant-garde contemporary art from China to the world, and on the other, it served as a tribute to one of the boldest travelers, Marco Polo.
