Professor Lü Peng was invited to participate in the international symposium titled “Post-Globalization and Re-Localization of Contemporary Art,” hosted by Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts. This symposium gathered numerous distinguished scholars from both domestic and international backgrounds, with Professor Zhu Jinhui, the president of Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts, serving as the chief planner. The academic chairs included Professor Wang Chuncheng from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Paul Gladston, the Inaugural Judith Nelson Chair Professor of Contemporary Art at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, and Researcher Wang Duanting from the Institute of Fine Arts in Chinese Academic of Arts, who collectively explored the changes and challenges faced by contemporary art in the post-globalization era.

During the seminar, Professor Lü delivered a significant lecture titled “CONFRONTING THE GLOBALIZATION OF YESTERDAY AND TODAY: How To View The Context of Today's Chinese New Art.” He systematically reviewed the development trajectory of contemporary Chinese art within the globalization process and provided an in-depth analysis of how it navigates the multifaceted impacts of globalization and de-regionalization. He emphasized that globalization has not only resulted in cultural collisions and fusions but has also brought forth new modes of artistic expression and contextual frameworks. By integrating historical and contemporary perspectives, Professor Lü discussed the current state of contemporary Chinese art and its unique position within the global art landscape, garnering significant attention and acclaim from fellow scholars and attendees.

This seminar not only offered a high-level platform for academic exchange among scholars from various backgrounds but also provided new perspectives for rethinking the regionality and globalization of contemporary art. As the process of globalization continues to evolve, the art community will face numerous opportunities and challenges. How to maintain the uniqueness and innovation of art amidst these changes will become a crucial topic for both scholars and artists to contemplate together.
