The Meeting of Chinese and Western Art

On the morning of March 14, 2024, at 10:00 AM, the opening ceremony of the exhibition "The Meeting of Chinese and Western Art: Nineteenth-Century Images of Guangdong and Macao in The Context of The Maritime Silk Road," funded by the National Art Fund, was grandly held at the CAFA Art Museum. The exhibition was curated by Wang Lan, with Lü Peng serving as the Chairman of the Academic Committee.

This exhibition is a 2023 project of the National Art Fund and a national touring exhibition. The exhibition at the Central Academy of Fine Arts is the first stop of the five-stop tour. It is hosted by Macau University of Science and Technology and organized by the School of Humanities and Arts of Macau University of Science and Technology. The exhibited works mainly include Western-style paintings from the collection of the Yinchuan Museum of Contemporary Art and maps of Macao and Guangdong from the collection of the Macao University of Science and Technology Library. It showcases the urban landscapes and historical changes of Macao, Guangzhou, and the treaty ports, important nodes of the Maritime Silk Road in the 19th century. The exhibition features 123 Western-style paintings and 80 maps.
