The Meeting of Chinese and Western Art

On the afternoon of September 26, 2024, the fourth stop of the exhibition "The Meeting of Chinese and Western Art: Nineteenth-Century Images of Guangdong and Macao in The Context of The Maritime Silk Road," funded by the National Art Fund, opened at the Macau University of Science and Technology. The exhibition was curated by Wang Lan, with Lü Peng serving as the chairman of the academic committee.

The exhibited works primarily consist of Western-style paintings and historical maps of Macau and Guangdong from the collection of the Macau University of Science and Technology Library, alongside Western-style paintings from the Yinchuan Contemporary Art Museum. A total of 150 Western-style paintings and ancient maps are displayed, showcasing the urban landscapes and historical transformations of Macau, Guangzhou, and trading ports—significant nodes of the Maritime Silk Road in the 19th century.
