"Blood Lines:Zhang Xiaogang Before 1996" stands as my inaugural scholarly biographical work profiling a contemporary Chinese artist. It has been published in three languages: Chinese, English and French. Guided by my historical perspective and the fundamental context of the artist, I focus my analysis on the contradictions and conflicts that persistently emerge in the works of Zhang Xiaogang and his contemporaries. I aim to provide a multidimensional narrative and dissection of Zhang Xiaogang's artistic journey, enabling readers to grasp the authenticity and intricacy of history through the artist's thoughts, artistic practices, and sensory experiences. Consequently, this exploration seeks to further confirm the historical values needed in our current era and future civilized society.
